Experience the awe-inspiring migration of gray whales along the Oregon coast during the Winter Whale Watch 2024, taking place from December 27 to 31, 2024. This annual event offers prime viewing opportunities as approximately 20,000 gray whales journey southward to their breeding grounds in Mexico.
Key Viewing Locations:
Boiler Bay State Scenic Viewpoint: Located just north of Depoe Bay, this viewpoint provides expansive ocean vistas ideal for spotting whales. Volunteers will be on-site from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM to assist visitors in identifying and understanding whale behaviors.
The Whale Watching Center: Situated in Depoe Bay, known as the "Whale Watching Capital of the Oregon Coast," the center is open from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM during the event. It offers educational exhibits and knowledgeable staff to enhance your whale-watching experience.
Fathoms Restaurant: For a unique vantage point, consider dining at Fathoms Restaurant, located within the Inn at Spanish Head in Lincoln City. The restaurant's panoramic windows provide a comfortable indoor setting to observe the migrating whales.
